The workshops below are intended to support your professional development and preparation to apply for national awards. Please be sure to RSVP to secure your seat at the workshops. If you are attending a workshop that is specific to an award opportunity, please review the award website before attending the workshop and come prepared to ask questions!

  • Barry Goldwater Scholarship
    Provides $7,500 scholarships to college sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering, the Goldwater Foundation is helping ensure that the U.S. is producing the number of highly-qualified professionals the Nation needs in these critical fields. You must be nominated to apply. Come learn about this exciting award opportunity.

  • Are you looking for an amazing summer research opportunity?  There are many opportunities to conduct research at national research institutes, universities outside of UCR, including abroad.  Come learn more what you need to apply.  Most applications are now open and will close in early 2017.

  • CRF 2015-16 Group PhotoApplying to the Chancellor's Research Fellowship Workshop
    Inaugurated in 2012, the UCR Chancellor's Research Fellowship awards thirteen undergraduate students up to $5,000 each.  The funds may be used for materials, supplies, and travel related expenses in order to conduct a research or creative activity project. The application for this award opens in late winter and is due in early April.  The fellowship begins on July 1st and ends on June 30th of the following year.
    Candidates for this fellowship must attend an application workshop to be eligible to apply for a Chancellor's Research Fellowship.

    A full-time, nine month, graduate-level experiential leadership training program that prepares diverse, talented and committed individuals for effective and ethical leadership in the public affairs arena. 64 Fellows are chosen nationally each year.

    1) General Statement of Grant Purpose: 
    Personal statements are necessary if you’re planning on applying to graduate or professional schools and even for many scholarships and fellowships. The ARC’s Writing Support Specialist will go over common elements of personal statements and how to get started on writing your own.

    The Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity Symposium provides the opportunity for undergraduates across the disciplines to share their research and creative activities with the UCR community. Students may present their work in a variety of ways, such as oral presentations, poster sessions, art exhibits, performances, and electronic media. We encourage all UCR undergraduates involved in faculty mentored research or creative activities to apply, and those not yet involved to discover that attending the Symposium is a great way to learn about the broad range of opportunities available at UCR.

    There are many reasons it is important to be published, some of the benefits include: becoming a competitive applicant for grad school, enhancing your resume, displaying leadership and initiative, and improving writing and research skills. Come learn how to create a clear and concise submission for publication.  This workshop is required of any student who wishes to submit to the UCR Undergraduate Research Journal.
